How to Find Volkswagen Radio Code
OEM Radio Codes · 28 April 2026 · 4 min read
When your VW head unit asks for a PIN after a battery disconnect or theft protection trigger, you need the correct unlock code tied to your unit’s identity — usually the radio serial.
Many Volkswagen factory radios use a serial that starts with VWZ on the casing label or in on-screen diagnostics (generation-dependent). Older or specialty units may use different prefixes. Note the serial exactly as printed — spacing and substitutions matter when ordering a PIN.
The anti-theft code is computed from that serial (and sometimes related vehicle data), not guessed. Entering incorrect codes repeatedly can extend SAFE lockout time, so always double-check the serial before submitting it anywhere.
If you have the serial and need a verified unlock PIN with clear delivery timelines, continue on our Volkswagen product page below — radio codes and MAP services are listed together for supported head units.
