Step-by-step guide
Where to find your Ford radio serial number
Ford radios (especially the common 6000 CD) display a serial on the lockout screen. The full serial is also printed on the radio chassis label.

Read the V-serial from the screen
When the radio is locked, it shows "CODE" and then a V-serial starting with "V" followed by 6 digits (e.g., V123456) or "M" followed by 6 digits. Press preset buttons "1" and "6" together if needed to display it.

Check the radio label
Remove the unit with Ford-specific removal keys (U-shaped pins). The serial label is on the top of the radio. You need the full serial number (M or V series) and optionally the part number.

Look in the glove box
Ford often includes a wallet card with the radio serial and original code in the owner's documentation pack.

Send a photo
If the screen only shows 'CODE' with no serial, remove the unit and photograph the top label. We will identify the serial from the barcode.
Ford 6000 CD uses V-series or M-series serials. SYNC-equipped units may require a different approach — contact us with the model year and we will guide you.

Where is the V-serial on my Ford radio?
The V-serial (starting with V or M followed by 6 digits) may appear on the lock screen. If not, remove the radio with U-shaped removal keys and read the label on top.
